William P. Walker Judge of Probate

Otto:

My Lambert Burghardt (son of Hendrick Burghardt and Engeltje Bresie, younger brother of your Conrad) left no probate record. This is probably because he sold all his land to sons Peter and John for $6,000 in 1808. In turn, son Peter sold his half for $3,000 to brother John in 1809. (from LDS Micrfofilm #879149)
I have been able to find information on 3 of the 5 sisters of Grove Burghardt (son of the above John and wife Jemima Willson). I just posted my findings to rootsweb.com, so it should be available in about 24 hours. I told you before that I was only able to locate Grove in the 1850 census in Ohio. I finally located him in the 1830 census in Bloomfield Township, Ontario County, NY, his name in the book index was Grove Burdardt, so this is why I did not find it the first time. The other members in his household are almost surely his 4 unmarried sisters and mother, widow Jemima. Recall that Grove's father, John Burghardt, died in 1825 in West Stockbridge, Berkshire County, MA.
Will pass on more information as I get it. I appreciate your updates. I still have not been able to locate a baptismal record for the Lambert Burghardt above, or a marriage record for him to Engeltje Bresie. At least Lambert is clearly listed in his father's will (i.e., Hendrick Burghardt who died in 1758).
