8. Clarke Towne was born about 1779 in Vermont. Linda Bischoff wrote that Hazel Tucker, a descendant of John Towne who was son of Clark Town and Phebe Lattin, said "That Clark Town had died in Hemmingsford, Canada and that Phebe had remarried. Phebe, the Town children and her second husband moved to Russell, NY. She said that there was at least one child born from the second marriage, but doesn't know what the surname was." This could poosibly be Shephard. In the 1850 census for Russell "Phebe Town Shephard" (age abt. 65) is living with _________ Shephard (age abt. 25), Elizabeth (22) his wife and daughter Elizabeth (1).

On June 10, 1800 he was added to list of person to receive land grants in Quebec, Canada. He lived in wickham, Quebec about 1800, them moved to Dunham about 1803. He immigrated in 1800 to Hemmingford Quebec, Canada. Received a land grant from the Canadian government. He died about 1826 in Dunham Flats, Que., CA. He Buried about 1826 in Dunham Flats, Que., CA. He was married to Phebe Lattin about 1804 in Dunham Flats, Que., CA.

9. Phebe Lattin was born on 10 Jul 1786 in Danby, Rutland Co., VT. (3) Children were:

child i. Carlton F. Towne was born on 4 Nov 1804 in Vermont/Quebec, Canada. He resided in 1830 in South Russell, NY. He died on 24 Jul 1887 in South Russell, St. Lawrence, NY.
child ii. Keziah Towne was born on 28 Oct 1806 in Dunham Flats, Que., CA.
child iii. Hannah Towne was born in 1808.
child iv. Phebe Towne was born about 1814 in Hemmingford, Que. CA.
child v. Maryette Towne was born before 1818 in Dunham Flats, Que., CA.
child4 vi. Clark C. Towne.
child vii. John Towne was born on 6 Nov 1820 in Hemmingford Que., Can.. Cemetery book says 1819. He died on 23 Jan 1911 in DeGrasse, St. Lawrence, NY. He Buried in S. Russell cemetery, Russell, St. Lawrence, NY. In 1853 Uncle John and Aunt Minerva moved from thge North Woods (Canada?) to the South Woods (South Russell?) and established a home in the virgin forest. During those early years of rugged pioneering Aunt Minerva bore her part couregeoulsy and patiently, although compelled to rear her rapidly increasing family amid privations and proverty. During 58 yers Aunt Minerva and Uncle John tild together on the farm they carved out of the wilderness.
