The CALANDRA / FARINA family tree began about 6 years ago. I beleive my Great Grandfather Salvatore Calandra came from the Palermo region of Sicily. My Grandmother Louisa Farina with whom I identify came from Piazza Armerina, Enna, Sicily. Since I began my search I have found a place for almost 340 related people. I have enjoyed the search, contacting family relations, and then preparing and printing the family tree. I feel this project is not yet complete until I discover the other Italian ancestors Calandra and Ferro.

If you feel you might be part of this family, contact me via e-mail. Thanks.

Family Photos

  • Francesco Calandra (339 KB)
A picture of my Grandfather as a young man. Some relatives say he was a fisherman in Palermo before coming to America around 1913. He became a laborer and about the late 1920 began a grocery store on Ralph Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. He died in 1953.
  • Louisa Farina Calandra (231 KB)
Daughter of Cono Farina and Emanuela Benza, Piazza Armerina, Province of Enna, Sicily. Grandmother arrived in America around 1914, met and married Francesco in 1915. They had 5 children: Phyllis, Cono (Conrad), Salvatore (James), Guiseppe, and Francesco II.
  • The Store (282 KB)
I'm the baby in this vintage photo @ 1950. Grandparents, Mom & Dad, Brothers, and Cousins. The way the store looked in the "old" days.
