The victory won by the vastly outnumbered men served to impede the progress of Santa Ana's Mexican Army, giving the Texians more time to prepare for the perilous days ahead.

The Battle of the Alamo occurred the following March, the small group of courage defenders being massacred by hordes of Mexicans.

In April 1836, glvanized by the Mexican brutality at the Alamo and in other areas as well, Sam Houston's outnumbered but determined men soundly thrashed the enemy in less that twenty minutes to win freedom for Texas.

Goals of this heritage organization, founded in 1989, are to preserve Texas History and artifacts as well as sponsor educational projects.

Descendants meet annually in San Antonio every December.

To be eligible for membership, a person must show documented proof that his/her ancestor participated in the "Battle for San Antonio".

Write the current registrar for a set of application forms. Include a check for $6.00 when ordering forms.

Obtain copies of birth, marriage, death certificates of parents, grandparants, and great-grandparents. Those further back are harder to find. Some records were not kept in earlier days. You can rely on copies of wills, probates, census records, church records, some published bioogrphies, ect. Send no orginals. From the Texas General Land Office 1700 N. Congress, Austin, Texas 78701 get a copy of the 640 acre land donation to your ancestor for his participation in the Siege of Bexar and include it with your other documents. Questions?
