2. LEWIS² THOMPSON (WILLIAM¹) was born 24 April 1821 in Rutherford Co, NC, and died 11 January 1913 in Pickens Co., GA. He married ELIZABETH ANN STEWART 05 December 1858 in Cherokee Co., GA.

3. MARGARET FREELOVE² THOMPSON (WILLIAM¹) was born 14 August 1831 in Rutherford Co, NC, and died 26 December 1925 in Pickens Co., GA. She married LEANDER CHILDERS 21 July 1853 in Cherokee Co., GA.

Child of MARGARET THOMPSON and LEANDER CHILDERS is:

CANNADY³ CHILDERS.

4. WILLIAM² THOMPSON (WILLIAM¹) was born 01 August 1833 in Rutherford Co, NC, and died 06 August 1904 in Pickens Co., GA. He married (1) MARYAN BORSUM 17 December 1855. She was born 22 October 1838, and died 29 March 1866 in Pickens Co., GA. He married (2) KYSIA CROSS 18 September 1866 in Pickens Co., GA. She was born 29 August 1845 in GA, and died 27 October 1928 in Pickens Co., GA.

Notes for WILLIAM THOMPSON:
William married twice. His first wife was Maryan Borsun? He never claimed her child, John B. Thompson. He disappears from the family following his mother's death and is not named in the will. The family story is that William believed this child to be illegitimate and sent him to live with his mother's family following her death.

William served in the 3rd Georgia Cavalry, Company G, under Capt. Collins. On May 12, 1862 he enlisted for 3 years at Calhoun, GA. On Oct. 31, 1862 the muster rolls report that he was taken prisoner on Sep.20, 1862 in Kentucky. The muster rolls for Dec. 1863 report that he was sick in Georgia.

According to Mama Lila, he was very wealthy. She said he purchased a home for each of his children upon their marriage and there is a photo of a very fine house which Lila says she was born in. She also said he owned many slaves but I do not find him listed as a slave-owner on Pickens County slave schedules.

5. ELIJAH² THOMPSON (WILLIAM¹) was born 20 October 1837 in Forsyth, GA, and died 08 November 1924 in Pickens Co., GA. He married REBECCA PARKS 20 February 1859 in Cherokee Co., GA. She died 06 March 1916.
