Susannah married John Fleming Wakefield. They had eight children. John died in Iowa in 1854. Susannah moved with her children in May 15 1855 with an unknown company of Morman Immigrants to Utah. They arrived in Salt Lake according to her son, John Fleming II's journal , mid September 1855. They were met by her brother, Joseph Garlic, and he took them to his home in Springville, Utah.
