Notes for B
ENJAMIN F. STOVER:

Mattie (Haas) told me that she can remember when Ben Stover died and his corpse was in his house in Delaware. Where the Kroger store used to be on S. Sandusky St. (not where the S. Sandusky St. store is now but where the first one was). She said she was a little girl and was hardly as tall as the casket. She said she remembers it was the first corpse she had ever seen.

Newark Advocate of Sept. 2, 1930.......Delaware...."Benjamin F. Stover died at his home after a lingering illness." Apparently the Stover's were still well known in Licking County seventy years after George moved to Delaware County.

"OBITUARY....Mrs. Mattie A. Griffith...........Mattie A., youngest child of George W. and Elizabeth (Green) Stover, was born in Berlin township, Delaware county, Ohio on April 20, 1863. She departed this life March 25, 1924, aged 60 years, 11 months, and five days.

She spent her girlhood on the farm with her parents and on October 2, 1879 was married to Thomas Griffith. To this union were born three children, Elsie who preceded her parents to the Better World, Floyd and Marie.

Soon after their marriage they purchased the house and farm where they spent their lives, each striving to do the thing that pleased the other and so they worked, adding this thing and that until they achieved their early dream of a home.

She was a real homemaker. Her delight was supreme when friends came to call or to visit, and the friend or stranger never left her home hungry. Her whole aim in life was to do good. With her husband she united with the West Berlin Presbyterian Church of which she has been a faithful member for nearly 40 years. She never recovered from the shock occasioned by the sudden death of her husband, little more than a year ago, and frequently expressed a desire to be with him.

She leaves to mourn, one son, Floyd, one daughter, Marie, three grandchildren, one brother and two sisters, besides numerous other relatives."
