She had worked for Kilgore and Elmhurst Nursing Home, and was a member of the Orange Road Evangelical Friends Church and a former member of Westerville Senior Citizens. E. Louise VanLoon

E. Louise VanLoon, 75, of Delaware, died Monday morning (June 4, 2007) at Delaware Court Health Care Center.

Born Sept. 25, 1931 in Delaware County to the late Thomas and Bernice (Boner) Smith, she graduated from Berlin High School with the class of 1949. Before retiring, she had worked as both an operator and service representative with GTE in Delaware and Marion. Most proud of her family, she will be remembered for her caring qualities and ornery personality. She attended Genoa Baptist Church, was a member of the former Cheshire United Methodist Church, Sunbury Golf League and for years assisted in the race secretary office for the Little Brown Jug and Delaware County Fair. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived and will be missed by three daughters, Deborah Buckingham of Delaware, Carol Osborne of Delaware and Linda Sheets of Delaware; one son, Donald E. (Sharon) VanLoon Jr. of Ashley; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jesse Smith of Galena and Robert (Maija) Smith of Homosassa Springs, Fla.; one sister, Dorothy (Donald) Scott of Columbus; and her dear friend, Burt Connell of Westerville.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ronn VanLoon in 1990; two sons-in-law; Bob Osborne in 2004 and Russ Sheets in 2007; and one brother, Tom Smith.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, with Pastor Dennis Stranges officiating. Interment will follow in Cheshire Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Grady, 561 W. Central Ave., Delaware, OH 43015.

St. Rt. 37, Sunbury, died Monday at the Forum..........he was reared on a farm in Berlin township, graduate of Berlin High School and the Ohio State University in 1938 with a B.S. in Agriculture Education.....He was Retired Vice President of Landmark (Farmer's Cooperative), Columbus, Assistant to Ohio Director of Agriculture 1954-56, and a well known public speaker throughout the state of Ohio. Member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church, OSU President's Club, OSU Almuni Assoc., and Benjamin Chapter S.A.R., Delaware Rotary Club, Board of Directors of Fidelity Federal Savings and Loan, Delaware. An active mason, he was Past Maser Hiram Lodge #18 among other offices in the lodge. He received many awards of distinction including Honorary Masonic 33rd Degree in 1968 at Atlantic City, Ohio Farm Bureau Cooperative Educator Award, Ohio Agriculture Research and Development Center Award, Wooster, Ohio, Centennial Award from Dept. of Agricultural Education OSU. In 1994 he received the Paul Harris Fellow from Rotary International, and the Hiram Lodge Community Recognition Award in 1999.       Visitation will be at Robinson Funeral Home.
