4. JAMES3 GRACE (THOMAS2, WILLIAM1) was born January 01, 1770 in (Edgecomb County) North Carolina, and died January 24, 1842 in (Henry County) Alabama. He married (1) LUCY (LEACY) MOBLEY 1794 in (Tattnall County) Alabama, daughter of JOHN MOBLEY and SARAH HURST. She was born 1782 in (Burke County) Georgia, and died in Milledgeville, Georgia. He married (2) MARY RICHARDSON 1817 in Milledgeville (Randolph County) Georgia. She was born November 19, 1780 in South Carolina.

AMES GRACE:
By the early 1790's, James and his brothers, William and John had moved to
Screven (Burke County) Georgia. By 1801 James and his wife had moved to
Tattnall County, Georgia, and were among the first settlers. His two brothers,
William and John also moved to Tattnall County, Georgia. In 1812, James moved to Randolph County, Georgia. By 1820, James and his new wife had moved across the river to Henry County, Alabama. Most of his children from his second marriage, moved with him.

From Ledger of W. W. Grace, sent to Evelyn Carrington, from Eliza Virginia Grace Lowe: 1840-James Grace sold (partly gave) his Hightown Farm to his son Byrd Mobley Grace for $7000.00. He then bought Maddox place, within 3 miles of Hightown and moved out on said place, thereafter improving it.
Died at age 72 years and 24 days.
The Negro slaves were claimed by the first set of Grace children and taken from the widow and young set of children who made a crop on the place.
