Pieter Aaron Van dorn, 3rd son of Aaron Van Dorn and Gesha Schenck. He graduated from Princeton in 1795. He intended to be a minister but qualified for law. He settled in Virginia where his first wife died. No information on her. He moved to Vicksburg Miss. and became a lawyer of high reputation. He was a clerk at Circuit Court, later a judge of Probate Court and life judge of Orphans Court, a position he later resigned.
He married Sophia Donelson Caffery, daughter of Mary Donelson of Nashville Tenn. sister of Mrs. Andrew Jackson, and daughter of Col. John Donelson who was on the staff of Gen. George Washington.
