James Grover Cleveland Tillman & Family

My mother's parents, James Grover Cleveland Tillman (1891-1970), his wife Cleva Pauline York (1896-1975), and their first two children, James Riley Tillman (1914-1985) and Gladys Yineta Tillman (1917-1986). Hollis, Oklahoma in 1917, just one year before my mother Alice Tillman was born. Gladys was born in a soddy with a midwife, because their frame home wasn't built yet, and there was no doctor available for many miles. James and his father, James Franklin Tillman farmed and hauled supplies from Texas in a freight wagon with draft horses for the Hollis General Store. The old Tillman place is currently owned by Bill Dill of Hollis.
