Ensign Heather Courtney, US Navy & UT Graduate

One of the Navy's newest officers, Heather Chae Courtney, daughter of Gary Courtney of Tulsa and Younae (Choi) Courtney of Houston, receives her first salute in a ceremony on the University of Texas grounds at Austin, May 20, 2005, following her commissioning ceremony. The evening was busy with a celebration of Navy and Marine officers and their families at the American Legion mansion, built in 1858. The following day, Heather received her degree, with Honors, from UT, which she earned on full scholarship. She is currently one of the officers in command of the 565-foot guided missle cruiser USS Chancellorsville.
