Notes from conversation with Bob Glankler May 10, 2000. After a long fight with congenital heart Failure Marcella was admitted to Hospital and had one leg amputated, due to poor circulation, with the understanding that her second leg may need to be removed as well. Her daughter Dorathy was told that she may not recover from the surgery. A hospital staff approached Dorathy and asked what her wishes were. She responded by asking for Marcella's suffering to be minimized as much as possible. Upon hearing that the staff introduced themselves as members of HOSPICE and that they would take over from here. Marcella died in her sleep and was suffering no pain at death.
Although not common, there are documented cases of Angels visiting people prior to death. During the Homily at the funeral mass Father Thomas A. Nevels told about an evening when Marcella called her daughter Dorathy into her bedroom. She asked Dorathy to bring the children in so she could thank them for the beautiful singing. Dorathy responded that there were no children in the house.

Wilfred would slip a quarter in the hand of his son Robert's five children when they would leave after visiting. The quarter was to be used to buy a coke for the drive back to West Virginia. For this reason a quarter is mounted on Wilfed's grave stone.
