Notes for ABERILLA BLANKENSHIP:
[BLANKE~1.ged]
1830 census, Franklin Co., Aba Blankenship(Arbilla), six women and sixteen children. Aberilla ran a whore house! (Source: From Mike Blankenship,) "At the Franklin Co. courthouse I found all those daughters who grew up to be prostitutes in a single court record from 1812. Their mother was named Adiah, she appears in the 1830 Franklin census as Aba, but rather than being Liggon's daughter Abarilla, she was his sister."
The 1830 census gives her DOB as 1760/1770. She appears to be the woman, younger than Liggon's wife living in the same household in 1810 and 1820, they might have shared the share after their parents died, and by 1803 Abiah was living in her own home on the same property, with her daughters and at least 16 children.
(From Mike Blankenship, Jan. 1996, I found a court record, 1836, about the whorehouse, two guys burned it down(one was a Blankenship) and told the judge they did it because it was a house of ill fame.
