March 17, 1855, Reuben Kendall made his last will and testment in which he bequeath his worldly goods to his children. To his daughter, Charlotte Crump, wife of John Franklin Crump, he left five (5) slaves and her share of his estate to be sold at public auction. Reuben Kendall's will was recorded and filed at the November Session 1855 of the Stanly County, North Carolina Court of Pleas and Quarterly Sessions, at which time Reuben Kendall was deceased. (Will Book #1, pp. 139)

The Thomas Wade Chapter, DAR - N.C. Bible, Cemetery Records, Etc. (1952) includes John F. Crump's (Charlotte F. Kendall's) Bible Record (said to be found among some discarded papers) which included his children (as shown in this database), Marriages, especially of Lucy F. Crump and her children, Deaths of Marshall L. Staton and Lucy, and Births of Negro children (Slaves). The four slaves mentioned were Elen, b. 3-12-1847; Ann, b.10-5-1848; Matilda, b. 9-14-1850; and Hollom, b. June 18??.

John Franklin Crump was also a Doctor of Medicine, and practiced in Montgomery/Stanly County, NC.
