Includes NotesNotes for Alice Susannah Tate:
Made home made sweets to sell on the barrow v- known as 'Old Poll'

Lived with husband and 9 children in 2 rooms

House was demolished in the blitz - al but half the fireplace.

The body of Alice was found 2 streets away, but incredibly her medicine still stood on the mantelpiece with family photos of those who survived the war in tact (pinned to the wall above the fireplace). The photos of family members who died in the war were destroyed in the bomb.

Her daughter, Violet arranged the funeral

Alice always used to say her daughter, Violet, would follow her to her grave because Violet always used to follow her about.

Violet was killed just days later by a bomb- identified by a bloodsoaked receipt for her mothers funeral in her pocket. She was found in the hayloft of the horses dreyman.

And so Violet was buried on the same day as her mother, in the same grave.
