My Family Tree

Updated May 3, 2003

About Our Family Research

I'm new to the whole genealogical scene, but am truly enjoying my climb up the family tree. For instance, I found that the surname "Phaneuf" and it's variants are actually a French adaptation of the "Farnsworth" surname. It seems that a young Farnsworth gentleman (Mathias III) was kidnapped in MA by natives and sold as a slave to another native tribe, ending up in Canada. The story has a happy ending, Mathias was rescued by some priests, and was baptized with Claude de Ramsay Governor of Montréal as his godfather, and his godmother was Elisabeth Souart, wife of Charles Le Moyne of Longueuil. I can't wait to see what else I can find hiding in the family tree :)
