Could your Thomas Carter bn l773 SC be kin to my ancestor John Wise Carter bn c l792 in Edgefield Co., SC? John Wise Carter also lived in St. Clair Co., AL having moved there about l8l9-l820. About l835 he moved to Talladega Co., AL and then left there about l842 moving to Paulding Co., GA. By l850 he had moved back to Edgefield Co., SC. John Wise Carter bn c l792 was son of one John Carter (bn c l758) and Elizabeth Wise (bn c l763). This John Carter moved to Edgefield Co., SC about l775 (?) from an unknown county in VA. He served in the Revolutionary War. I believe he may have had a brother, Thomas Carter, who also served in the Rev. War from Edgefield Co., SC. I know very little on this Thomas Carter. He may have been a little older than his brother John. Could he have been the father of your Thomas Carter (bn l773)? I thought I would just mention this as a possibility. It might be worth checking into. I have no idea where this Thomas Carter lived after the Rev. War.
