Notes for Ralph Elberson Neidhardt: Ralph worked in his father's grocery store. He was in the National Guard which was mustered into service when WW I started. Later he became a Captain and fought in the Battles of Argonne Forest and Verdun, France. Mae died during the flu epidemic in 1918 while Ralph was overseas. During the war Ralph was the owner of a dry goods store at Spencerville. Other Ralph Neidhardt Honors were "The Camp Neidhardt Rifle Range" located outside of Spencerville which was named after him as was the "Neidhardt Memorial Park" (called the 'flat iron' due to the shape of the plot) and is situated on Broadway Street at Spencerville, next to the family homestead.
