There is a conflict for the birth date of Jonathan. The History of Dublin, p. 717 lists Jonathan, son of James Bemis and Hannah (Leland) Frost with b. in 1785, d. in 1829. The History of Marlborough says b. in Marl., Dec. 30, 1780, and follows with "Mrs. Bemis (his mother) d. Feb. 9, 1785;" and clearly indicates that Jonathan is the son of Hannah Frost. If the death date is correct for Hannah, the birth date in the History of Dublin cannot be correct. A further conflict occurs from the Greenwood Genealogies where:
"Levina Greenwood (twin), b. June 25, 1798; m. Jonathan Bemis, b. Dec. 30, 1785, d. Nov. 15, 1826, a farmer in Windham, Vt. They had:
Jonathan (Bemis) b. 1815; d. 1819
Charles (Bemis) b. Sept. 29, 1817; d. Oct. 16, 1877, a farmer in Windham, Vt."
the date Dec. 30, 1785 reappears. I adopt the date from the History of Marlborough, Dec. 30, 1785 which conflicts with the death date for his mother, but avoids the marriage date conflict for his mother, Hannah, and his father James as 1783 from the History of Dublin.
Similarly, there is a conflict in the death date for Jonathan. The History of Dublin gives "d.. in 1829", no
death date in the History of Marlborough and the Greenwood Genealogies give "d. Nov. 15, 1826, a farmer in Windham, Vt." I adopt Nov. 15, 1826 from the Greenwood Genealogies.
