Calvin Bemis was the son of Jonathan Bemis of Marlborough, where he was born Jan. 27, 1798; married, March 14, 1822, Deborah, daughter of Asa and Deborah (Sargent) Brewer; after his marriage they resided eight years in Swanzey, one year in Marlborough, twenty years in Rindge, and came to Troy in 1851, locating on the place now owned by Mrs. Abel Burpee. He was a man of sound judgment and universally respected. Mr. Bemis died in Troy, Aug. 9, 1872; his widow died in Fitzwilliam, July 17, 1882...
