Cyrus Elisha dies September 7, 1888 of typhoid fever. At the time of his death he was a coachman/farmer at J. L. Ellsworth. In the 1888 Worcester City directory the J. L Ellsworth refers to a Charles Ellsworth, a seller of dry goods, and J. Lewis is listed under the Ellsworth heading as a farmer, thus Cyrus was a wagon driver or coachman and farmer at this location. The day following his death his wife, Nellie purchases four burial plots at the Hope Cemetery in Worcester, plot # 3054, section 23, area 108. The funeral director is Fay Funeral of Worcester who was the notified of his death. In speaking with the Hope Cemetery office and they, upon examining their records, find the burial card, but they do not show any one buried in any of the four plots. A copy of the card is in the file. In speaking with the funeral director Fay Funeral they are not sure if there is any one buried there either. Upon visiting the Cemetery on March 28, 2001 I did not find a monument, or marker but there was one area in the designated lot where the ground was slightly depressed over an area about the size of a casket? This could indicate that there is/was a casket buried there. In that caskets were not placed in burial vaults at that time, this could indicate that the casket over time deteriorated and caved in causing the ground above to settle.

July 2, 1896, about eight years after Cyrus's death Nellie remarries at age 37 to an Edwin F. Damon, age 45 from Framingham, MA, she is now listed as a "cook" his occupation is listed as a bartender. The two, or three live in S. Framingham, MA, apparently until both parents die in the 1900s. At the time of their marriage Harry is about seven years old, and needless to say was very impressionable.

Nellie M or E Damon/Bemis/McCarthy dies January 15, 1923, at 8:25 PM, having lived at 42 Gordon Street, S. Framingham for 30 years. The cause of death is listed as bronchia pneumonia, with chronic cardiac valve disease. Her work is listed as a housekeeper. She was attended by a Dr. William Blanchard, and is buried at the Church Hill Cemetery in Framingham, MA by funeral director Matthews Hollander. She reportedly was 69 at her death. Her Father is listed as John McCarthy, from Ireland. An Ester C. Damon was the notified of Nellie's death, her daughter, Edwin Damon. Nellie and Harry are both buried in the Damon family burial plot in the Old Grove Cemetery/Church Hill Cemetery, which are one in the same place, in the rear of the cemetery, section I, at the far right hand side, about the 2-3 grave in the from the grass road at the front of the section.

James Elmer Bemis, born August 25, 1865, in Sherborn, MA. He attended Sherborn Public School, the West School in 1880. His picture appears in a photo taken in 1880 by W. B. Gardner. In this photo is an Ed Bemis, family unknown. James is one of the two primary signatories of his father John D's will, the other being Charles A. Bemis, his older brother. James appears in the 1920 Framingham, Federal Census, he is 54, his wife Mary E, she is 49. They have a son Ralph W. who is 20 living with them. James is listed as an officer of the State Department of Fish and Game. Their son apparently was or is in school at this time. They live at 10 Summit Street, and he appears to own the house.

From the following Worcester City directory of 1888 it appears that a James E. Bemis, possible the brother of Cyrus E Bemis, also lived in Worcester, MA:
