The couple remained in France until c1641, when they emigrated, bringing their son Jacques with them. Jacques Paradis had a large family himself.

4. DENIS3 GUYON (JEAN2, JACQUES1) was born June 30, 1631, and died 1685. He married ELISABETH BOUCHER 1659, daughter of FRANCOIS BOUCHER and FLORENCE GAREMAN. She was born 1646, and died 1685.

Denis Guyon was a merchant in the city of Quebed and styled "bourgeois" on several records, a mark of distinction usually given to those who had been successful in their professions.

Antoine de LaMothe Cadillac, the explorer/merchant who founded Detroit and was one of the first governors of Louisiana.

  Notes for FRANCOIS GUYON:
Francois was a naval officer with several of Iberville's expeditions and arrived in Louisiana in 1699 with Bienville and his brother Sauvolle. He embarked for New York in 1700 "to return to Quebed" and shortly afterward met his death in an expedition against the Indians.



5. FRANCOIS-DESPRES3 GUYON (JEAN2, JACQUES1) was born December 07, 1639 in Quebec, Canada, and died March 05, 1716/17 in Beauport, Quebec, Canada. He married MADELEINE MARSOLET 1662 in Quebec City, daughter of NICOLAS MARSOLET and MARIE LEBARBIER. She was born 1646, and died 1734.

RANCOIS-DESPRES GUYON:
Francois took the name "Despres" as early as 1668, and quickly assumed various properties of the Guyon family. By 1709 a map of the time reveals that DesPres had acquired nearly the entire original Guyon tract of Dubuisson, and as such was one of the larger landholders along the St. Lawrence. He appears to have retained his property until his death.
