Mom told us this photo was taken on her 21st birthday. She was wearing her best dress and jewelry. Mom was so elegant when she was young. She was so pretty and loved to laugh. She was admired and loved by many. Not just for her physical beauty but for her inner beauty. She used to tell us if we can't say something nice about someone not to say anything. Because we never walked in their shoes and didn't know what they had endured in their life. She would say that we should never feel sorry for ourselves because no matter how bad things were there would be someone who had it worse and we should be thankful for what we have. She used to get letters from so many friends when I was young. She cherished them and kept them in a special box and she would read them over and over.
