      2. Caleb2 Davis (Griffith1) was born Abt. December 1735 in Bucks Co., PA, and died May 26, 1818 in Londongrove Twp., Chester Co., PA. He married Margaret Pennington May 1756 in Bucks Co., PA, daughter of Daniel Pennington and Elizabeth Michener. She was born Abt. 1738 in Bucks Co., PA, and died Bef. 1818 in Chester Co., PA.

Notes for Caleb Davis:
Proof of lineage: Abstract of 1818 will of Caleb Davis showing death. (Wife not mentioned); Shaddinger, A.E. "The Micheners in America" p. 488 lists Caleb's birth date, marriage year, death date, wife and children. Caleb's date of birth is established if he was 21 when he married.
It has been shown that Caleb was not a devout Quaker. He was disowned from Springfield Meeting House for military involvement;. Pa Archives, 2nd Series Vol 3 p 593; Warden, R.S. "The Revolution in Political Leadership in Chester Co. , PA 1765-1785.

Caleb Davis who resided during the American Revolution at Springfield Twp., Chester Co., PA assisted in establishing American Independence, while acting in the capacity of Civil and Public Service.

His services during the Revolutionary War were: Representative of Chester Co. PA Commission of Provincial Conference, (June 18, 1775) Prothonatary of Courts. (1777-1791; Member of Assembly 1776; Secretary of County Committee,1776. Provided military supplies for the Commission of Safety of Chester Co., PA. Justice of the Court.

Please note: 1682 Philadelphia, Chester and Bucks were original counties. Montgomery County was formed from Philadelphia County in 1784. This note is to show that at the time of Caleb's service, he resided in Chester, part of the three counties.
