The Moore Family came from Ireland in the 1700's to Washington County, PA. In 1847, they moved by flat boat to Lee County, Iowa. Some of the children moved to Washington County, Missouri. They were Presbyterians and most of the men join the Masonic lodge. They believed in education with several entering careers as educators.
