I am trying to verify this photo as that of Elizabeth Sowards, second wife of William Cyrus Dillon, profiled elsewhere at this site. Elizabeth Sowards was the daughter of Griffin S. SOWARDS and Mary Elizabeth PERKINS. Elizabeth came from a large family. Her siblings were: (1) John P., who married Jane NULL; (2) Catherine, who married John Wylie DILLON, Sr.; (3) Sarah, who married James ROACH; (4) David; (5) Mary E., who married George Sylvester LEWIS; (6) Abigail Jane, who married James Perry BURCHAM; (7) Isaac M.; (8) Rachel, who married John H. WATSON; (9) Mahala, who married Samuel ROACH; (10) William; (11) Lanny Ellen, who married James Jesse ROACH; (12) Lewis Sylvester, who married Mary Jane Callicoat; (13) Griffin, Jr.; (14) Isaac M., who married Mary BURNS; and (15) Donelson SOWARDS. She first married Wilson Basil LEWIS in 1842. To this union were born Elizabeth, Mary Ellen, Mary Ann, Eliza Ann and Sarah Jane LEWIS. After the death of Wilson LEWIS, she married William Cyrus DILLON in 1855. Their family is described under William Cyrus DILLON at this site.
