1) Alvie Dillin, (1878-1971)
"This photo is my grandfather (right) Alva Dillon, who changed his name to Alvie Dillin when he got married. Alva is the second son of Thomas and Sarah Jane (Reed) Dillon. I still have a bit of research to do, but Iím 99% sure that Sarah Jane Reed was the daughter of Peter Pierce Reed and Sarah Cox. Peter Pierce Reed was the son of John M. Reed and Mary Hinds. The gentleman on the left is Walter Pope, my grandpa's cousin from his mom's side of the family. Walter Pope went on to become Attorney General of Arkansas and was an advisor to the President during World War II. Alva Dillon, was born December 11, 1878, in Fayette County, Illinois. He was the second son of Thomas and Sarah Jane (Reed) Dillon. He married (as Alvie Dillin) Ethel Pearl Tyler on January 22, 1909, in Lawrence County, Arkansas. Ethel Pearl Tyler, daughter of John Tyler and Matilda T. Robins, was born September 1, 1892, in Randolph County, Arkansas. Alvie and Ethel had 10 children. Ethel Pearl (77) died March 11, 1970, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Alvie (92) died May 1, 1971, in Jonesboro, Arkansas." Thomas Dillon, referenced above, spouse of Sarah Jane Reed, was the son of Peter Dillon and Sophia Severns Dillon, son of William Dillon and Deborah Meredith Dillon, son of Peter Dillon Sr and Mary Veghte Dillon of Coshocton Co., Ohio. This family as well as other descendants of Peter Dillon and Mary Veghte Dillon are further profiled at this site and DILLON FOLK.
