About Our Family Research

Charles H Dixon, born 1858 and died 1938,son of John Dixon and Julia Newman, married Mary Reed born 1859 in Nicholas County,Kentucky. He was a farmer and wagonmaster, hauling produce and supplies from Ohio River inland to Nicholas County area.Little is known of his early family. It has been said he crossed the Ohio River over frozen ice,in his wagaon near Maysville and worked his way to Bath County area.He and Mary Reed had five children who in turn have produced many offspring.Information on this family has been hard to find since many records of their history was destroyed by fire in the county court houses around 1900. I have information on many of the families of the original children of Charles H Dixon and Mary Reed.

Mary died in 1919 and Charles later married Bertie McIntire. She was killed in an automobile accident in Indiana in 1939.All are buried in Carlisle Kentucky cemetery.

Children of Charles Dixon and Mary Reed were Minnie Alice,Florence, Floyd, Emma and Jack Dixon. These families were from Bath and Nicholas Counties originally. They are now found in many locations including Kentucky,Florida and Nevada.A search is continuing to locate ancestors of this family, which is said to have originated in Scotland and Ireland.

Floyd,Jack,Emma Dixon and Florence Dixon Soper are all buried in Carlisle Kentucky cemetery.Minnie Dixon Arnold is buried in Paris Kentucky.
