From distant shores returning,
The pilgrim wanders home;
For rest his heart is yearning,
He would no longer roam.

A silent grave encloseth
What he most treasured here;
His heart no more reposeth,
But looks beyond for cheer.

He longs for things immortal,
For an Eternal day,
And so to Heaven's portal
He ever wends his way.

Cards of Thanks
We wish to express our sincere thanks
to all the friends and neighbors, who so kindly
assisted us during the illness and death of our beloved mother,
to the pastor for the of comfort, to Mr. Henry Schwark,
to the pall bearers, and to the friends for the beautiful floral offerings.

William and Julius Schleif, Emily Krueger,
Ida Wiley and Hulda Jenks.

DROWNED AT NEW LONDON
Spear Held Upright in Boat Is Cause of Tragedy
(Special to the Northwestern)
New London, Wis.., April 12.---- John Ludwig and Ernest Krueger were drowned in the Wolf river Monday night, and Herman Ludwig is in a precarious condition, as the result if a mishap while fishing.
The fishing party composed of four young men was returning home and one of the occupants of the boat held a spear upright. The boat was nearer to the shore than the young men thought and the spear caught in the overhanging branches of tree. The lad holding the spear was thrown into the water and in a frantic effort he grasped the side of the boat only to upset it. Herman Lidwig swam in shore and ran for help, several other fisherman responding. The latter succeeded in rescuing only one of the four boys. Herman Ludwig fell to the ground exhausted after telling about the peril of his fellows. The young men who drowned are twenty years of age.
