Soon after his birth on August 24th, his parents presented him to the Lord in Holy baptism for a covenant between the child and his God. His secular schooling he received in nearby district school and the all important religious indoctrination he obtained first from his parents and later in particular from his Pastor Milchert. Because of a vacancy in St. Paul church at Crystal where he had been baptized, he confessed his confirmation vow in St. Peter Lutheran Church in Richford the 27th of May, 1888. Seventeen years later, on November 21, 1902, he entered the holy estate of matrimony with Minnie Reetz of Newton. He took his betrothed to the farm where they remained to lived until about 3 weeks ago, when they left the home to reside with a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs Walter Lange, The departed brother was of a kind and friendly disposition, as a result of which he was honored and respected by neighbors and acquaintances. In his household he proved himself a faithful husband and loving father. As a member of St. Paul church here at Crystal Lake he was loved and faithful in church and communion attendances.

MINNIE LEONA SLIFE
Minnie Leona Slife, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Slife, was born November 7, 1908. Her baptism followed within a few days and she was confirmed at the age of 14. She remained loyal to her faith.
For quite some years she was employed at Ripon. Three years ago she had to submit to an operation and has been in delicate health since that time. The last several years she had to be home almost completely, trying to regain her strength. About mid-January she broke down completely and received care at the Ripon hospital the last three weeks.
The summons of death came Tuesday, February 1. She reached the age of 40 years, two months and 23 days. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 5, at 1:30 at the home and then at St. Paul's Lutheran church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
She leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Slife, three sisters and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lange, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Standke and Sadie Slife at home, besides other relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ida M. Wiley, 87, were held Tuesday, Feb., 19, at 1:30 in the Hancock Community Church with Rev. James G. Guthensohn officiating. Robert Frederick sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "The Lords Prayer," accompanied by Lila Ashley. Burial was in the Hancock Cemetery.
Mrs. Wiley, the daughter of John and Minnie Slife, was born March 5, 1875, in the Town of Newton, Marquette County. She passed away Feb. 16.
On Sept. 29, 1897 she was married to Willard C. Wiley, and for 20 years they operated the City Hotel- Restaurant in Hancock.
After the death of her husband on Oct 2, 1933, she lived with her daughter Mrs. Norman Adams. Due to a prolonged illness she entered the Murray Nursing Home in September 1961, where she was cared for until her death.
Her parents, two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. A son, Archie, passed away on Dec. 12, 1933.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Norman L. Adams (Ida Mae), Hancock, and Mable E. Wiley, Wisconsin Rapids; a daughter-in-law Mrs. A. R. Wiley (Lucille), Antigo; six grandchildren, one great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Surviving as pallbearers were Carneth Thompson, Orville Halverson, Arthur Wellner, John Wetmore, Carl Nelson and Gordon Frederick.
Relatives who came from away were Mrs. A. R. SERVICES HELD
MONDAY FOR
MRS. L. JENKS

Wild Rose ---- Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, April 27, at 2 o'clock at Wild Rose Methodist Church for Mrs. Louis Jenks, 75 with the Rev. Robert Hoffman officiating. Prayer was offered by the Rev. W. T. Williams and the Eastern Star participated at the close of the service.
Everett Jones sang "In the Garden" and two selections were sung by the male quartet consisting of Everett Jones, I. W. Lowe, Harlowe Long and Melvin Anderson. Burial was in the Caersalem Cemetery.
Mrs. Hulda Augusta Jenks was born on May 18, 1877, the youngest daughter of six children of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Slife in the town of Newton, Marquette county. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and joined the Methodist church in Wild Rose after her marriage to Louis Jenks on Oct. 16, 1901. They lived first on a farm and on Oct. 3, 1907, moved to Wild Rose and have resided at the same home ever since. On Oct. 14, 1951, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Royal Neighbors.
Mrs. Jenks died as the result of a cerebral hemorrhage on April 24 at 4:10 A.M.
Surviving are her husband and six children, (Ethel) Mrs. Ed. Pagel, Neenah, Minnie at home, Alfred of Wild Rose, John of Saxeville, (Mary) Mrs. Lawrence Waala, Wautoma and (Viola) Mrs. Archie Koerner, Menasha. One son died in infancy. She also leaves 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren, a brother, Julius Slife of Westfield, and a sister, Mrs. Ida Wiley of Hancock.

ILLIAM STEWART:
William Stewart died at his home in Wild Rose on Sunday morning. His death was caused by inflammation of the bowels and was sick about five days.
Mr. Stewart was a respectable young man and was married about three weeks ago to Miss Huldah Slife of this place. He expected to start a meat market with Lawerence Stone in a few days and accompanied by his wife went to Wild Rose for the purpose of disposing of some property before starting into business.
