DIES OF HEART ATTACK

A resident of this city for nearly 21 years. Reinhold W. Slife, 49, died suddenly Tuesday night at his home, 45 Grant street, at 11:10 o'clock, following a heart attack. Mr. Slife had not been ill previously and was at work as usual in the employ of the Morgan Company yesterday.
He was born July 15, 1896, in the town of Newton, Marquette country. On Sept. 19, 1917, he was married at Green Lake to Miss Ella L. Klingbeil, who survives. Prior to moving to this city in October of 1925, the couple had also resided at New London for five years. The deceased was a member of Martin Luther Church and of the Men's club of that church.
Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Ella Slife; three sons, Henry J. and Albert G, Slife of Oshkosh, and Lawerence A. Slife, serving with Navy; two brothers, Julius and Walter Slife, of Oshkosh; and four sisters Mrs. Fred Graper, Omro; Mrs. Charles Martin and Mrs. Arthur Schwersenski of Westfield; and Mrs. Edwin Bartel of Oshkosh. Two grandchildren also survive.
Funeral arrangements are in complete, pending the arrival of one son, F/1 Lawerence A. Slife, whose ship is in port at San Francisco. The remains were taken to Marquardt funeral home.

Mrs Ella Roland, 76, of 515 W. Bent Ave., died at 6:50 A.M. today at Mercy Medical Center where she had been for eight days.
She was born May 29, 1897, in Green Lake County, the daughter of Ludwig and Marie Klingbeil.
She was married to Reinhold Slife in Green Lake County Sept. 19, 1917. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1946. She married Philip Roland on Aug. 11, 1954. He preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1970.
Mrs. Roland was a resident of Oshkosh since 1917 and was an inspector at Waite Carpet Co. until it closed in 1963. Mrs. Roland was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church and its Guild.
Survivors are three sons, Henry Slife of Pickett and Albert and Lawerence Slife of Oshkosh; one brother, Julius Klingbeil of Green Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Ernestena Wiese, Seattle, Wash., and Miss Bertha Klingbeil, Oshkosh, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 A.M. at Martin Luther Church with the Rev. Daniel E. Habeck officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Friends may call at Marquardt Funeral Home from 4-9 P.M. Friday.

WALTER R. SLIFE
Walter R. Slife, 69, of 1240 Cedar St.., died today at 7:30 A.M. at Mercy Medical Center, where he had been a patient one week.
He was born in Newton, Wis., on September 17, 1903, son of Wilhelm and Anna Slife, and was married in the Town of Rushford, Waushara County, on June 7, 1922, to Miss Esther Schwersenska, who preceded him in death on January 19, 1970.
They came to Oshkosh in 1940, and Mr. Slife was Mr. Slife was employed at Paine Lumber Co. as a machinist until retiring in 1964. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Elenora Beahm, Mrs. Jessie Heft, Mrs. Edward Eberhart, Mrs. Bruce Singstock, Oshkosh, and Mrs. Harry Knox, Appleton; two sons Vernet and Curtiss Slife, Oshkosh; three sisters, Mrs. Charley Martin, Westfield, Mrs Arthur Schwersenska, Coloma, and Mrs. Amanda Bartel, Oshkosh; 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 P.M. at First English Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Robert H. Herder officiating.
Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
Friends may call at Marquardt Funeral Home Tuesday from 4:30-9 P.M.


Walter and Esther in May 1953 opened a bar in Oshkosh and it was called CLUB OHIO located at 6th and Ohio street in Oshkosh, Wis.

Mrs. Walter R. Slife. 64, of 1240 Cedar St., died Monday at 11: 19 A.M. at her home. She had been ill six months.
The former Esther Schwersenska was born in the Town of Richford, Waushara County , on March 20, 1905, daughter of Emil and Louise Schwersenska, and was married there to Walter Slife on June 7, 1922.
They moved to Oshkosh 29 years ago, and Mrs. Slife was a member of First English Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her widower, Walter; five daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Beahm, Mrs. Jessie Heft, Mrs. Edward A. Esther F. Schwersenska, 82, Richford, died peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 1991, at her home.
She was born July 12, 1908 in the town of Newton, Marquette County, the daughter of William and Anna (Ploetz) Slife. She married Art Schwersenska on June 12, 1926 at Waukegan, IL.
She and her husband lived at Sheboygan Falls before moving to the town of Newton, Marquette County, where they farmed for some time. They moved to Richford in 1971. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid.
She is survived by her husband, art; three sons -- Howard (LaVeila) Schwersenska of Coloma, Marlin (Neoma) Schwersenska of rural Coloma and Milferd (Anna) Schwersenska of Richford; one daughter, Susan (Doug) France, Waunakee; 21 grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services were held at 2 P.M. Saturday, June 8, 1991, in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Richford, with the Rev. Harold D. Gluth officiating. Burial was in the Richford Cemetery.
Friends called from 6-9 P.M. Friday at the Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma and from 1 P.M. Saturday until the time of services at the church.
A prayer service was recited at 8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Arthur E. Schwersenska, 91, of Richford died on Nov. 10, 1998 at the Silver Lake Manor in Wautoma. He was born June 14, 1907 in the town of Richford, the son of Emil and Louise Priebke Schwersenska. He married Esther F. Slife on June 12, 1926 in Waukegan, IL. She preceded him in death on June 6, 1991.
Art farmed in the town of Richford for many years until 1943 when he purchased a farm in the town of Newton, Marquette County. He retired from farming in 1969 and moved to Richford. He did carpentry work and some plumbing for a number of years until his wife's illness, when he then cared for her faithfully for sometime. Art enjoyed dancing, especially polkas and playing cards. He was active in building of the Richford Community Center. Art was named Mr. Richford during Good Old Richford Days several years ago. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Richford.
Survivors include two sons, Howard (LaVeila) Schwersenska), Coloma, Milfred (Anna) Schwersenska, Coloma; one daughter, Susan (Douglas) France, Muscoda; a daughter-in-law, Neoma Schwersenska, Coloma; 21 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Clarence Schwersenska, Hancock; one sister, Edna Pidek, Wautoma; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Schwersenska, Waupun; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Marlin Schwersenska, who died on Aug. 12, 1998; his parents; three brothers, Albert, George and Leonard; five sisters, Ida Schultz, Ella Pfalz, Lena Raatz, Elsie Frank and Esther Slife; and one daughter-in-law, Ruth.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998 at 11 A.M. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Richford with the Rev. Kimberly J. Stowell officiating. Burial followed in the Richford Cemetery. Relatives and friends called from 5-8 P.M. Friday at the Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma, and after 10 A.M. Saturday until the time of services at the church. A prayer service was held at 7:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
