Thoughts from his daughter Katherine who just returned from 6 months in Kuwaiti desert.

Harry was very widely regarded as an expert in his field of military intelligence. He began his Army career by enlisting in the Army at the first opportunity, leaving school early to serve his country during World War II. His early years were served in the Pacific theater of war as a field artilleryman. After a brief break in service after the war, Harry re-entered as a Military Policeman. He served at Arlington Hall Station during the time the National Security Agency (NSA) was formed. During this time he began working in the field of intelligence. It was during this time that he met and married Mae Moore; they stuck through 43 years of marriage raising 5 children. Most of his years were spent working in the Pentagon, but he and his family had tours of duty in Germany (twice) and France. He served as the Sergeant Major, the senior ranking noncommissioned officer and principal advisor of enlisted affairs for the Commander of his intelligence unit, which was located in several different locations across the globe. For years after his retirement many that worked for him kept in close contact with him. It was clear from comments from his peers that his children spoke to over the years that his superiors and soldiers had very great respect and admiration for him and his wife Mae, as their children do today. After retiring, Harry worked for a time in real estate and with the Xerox Corporation as their Rockville security manager before his heart attack forced him into a final retirement in Florida. He volunteered many hours working with the American Legion (past Post Commander, Post 177), the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Elks (local Elk of the year, 1990?), and was President of the Men's Association, Twin Towers, Cocoa Beach. He and Mae were well known in the area for giving generously of their time to people in need of assistance, particularly in their condominium area, Twin Towers.

Thoughts from her daughter Katherine.

Mae Moore, as she was called by all family and friends, was a homemaker much of her life and raised five children with Harry. They had many challenging moves around the world during their time with the military. Around the time Harry retired from the Army, Mae started a second career as a Billing Supervisor with the then-fledgling American Medical Laboratories, now one of the largest labs in the Washington, D/C. metropolitan area. When Harry had a major heart attack, Mae retired from this second career early to move with Harry to a gentler climate for his heart. In Cocoa Beach, Florida, Mae gave freely and generously her time and expertise to help other less informed retired persons in difficult situations with medical bills and insurance companies, and saved several persons from losing their homes and life savings. She also spearheaded, doggedly fought and won a courageous legal battle against a shady person that tried to bilk thousands of dollars from people that had invested in a Florida timeshare. A plaque in her honor is in the lobby of the timeshare building.
