      72. Colonel Richard Booker, born July 28, 1707 in Virginia; died April 3, 1760 in Amelia County, Virginia. He was the son of 144. Colonel Edward Booker and 145. Mary Goode. He married 73. Rachel Marot.

      73. Rachel Marot, born Abt. 1705 in Williamsburg, Virginia; died Aft. 1767 in Amelia County, Virginia. She was the daughter of 146. Jean Marot and 147. Anne Pasteur.

Notes for Colonel Richard Booker:
Richard was probably born ca. July 1707 in Henrico County, Virginia and was baptized on 20 July, 1707. Richard was a Colonel in the Militia and a Burgess of Amelia County.

Richard married Rachel Marot, daughter of Williamsburg tavern owner Jean Marot and Anne Pasteur. Rachel was born ca. 1700 in Williamsburg Virginia. Rachel and Richard were married in York County, Virginia.

Richard died on 13 April, 1760 in Amelia County, Virginia at the age of 53. His will is recorded in the Amelia County Will Book 1, p.181-182a and reads as follows:

Will of Richard Booker of the Parish of Raleigh in the County of Amelia, being sick and weak in body, dated 26 March 1760.

To my son Edward Booker all my land I last purchased of Joseph Mays called the Ferry whereon he now lives. Also all the cattle, hogs and sheep that are now on the plantation, also (seven Negroes).

To my daughter Ann Booker (four Negroes), also 500 Pounds current money at her comeing of lawfull age or marriage. I order there be no division until my daughter Ann Booker's Pounds be raised. Fast as the money shall arise from the profits of my estate it shall be put out to interest until the hole sum is raised and then kept until she arrives to lawfull age or marriage. In case my daughter Ann Booker should die, the legacies be equally divided between my four sons Richard, Parham, William, and John. My hole estate pay all costs of all law suits I now am engaged in.

To my son Richard Marot Booker all my land on the north side of Roanoak and Falling River in Lunenburgh and Bedford Counties. Also all my cattle and hogs on the said plantation. Also (seven Negroes). If my son Richard dies before he becomes of lawfull age, the same to my four sons Edward, Parham, William, and John.

To my son Parham Booker all my plantation and part of that land whereon Thompson Harris now lives called the Seven Islands ... up the river to the lower end of the clearing now called Benn's Quarter ... Also all my cattle and hogs on the plantation. Also (seven Negroes). If Parham dies before he comes of lawfull age, then to be equally divided between my four sons Edward, Richard, William and John.

To my son John Booker the plantation called Benn's Quarter, also the remainder part of Seven Islands. Also all the cattle and hogs on the plantation. Also (seven Negroes). Mr. Francis Anderson to have sole care of my son John Booker until he shall arrive at the full age of twenty one years. If my son John Booker dies before he comes of lawfull age, the same to equally be divided between my four sons Edward, Richard, Parham, and William.

To my son William Marshall Booker my land in Prince Edward County called Saylor's Creek. Also all my land I now live on after my wife's death. Also all the cattle and hogs on the Saylor's Creek plantation. Also (seven Negroes). If my son William dies before he comes of lawfull age to be equally divided between my four sons Edward, Richard, Parham, and John.

To my beloved wife Rachel my chair and horses, also all the cattle, hogs and sheep on the plantation whereon I now live, also the use and profits of all the remainder of my Negroes not given away, during her natural life, also the use and profits of the land whereon I now live, and after her decease to my son William Marshall.

All the Negroes given for my wife's use do remain and work on such part of the lands given she shall chuse. After my wife's decease all the Negroes be equally divided between my five sons Edward, Richard, Parham, William, and John. If either of my sons Edward, Richard, Parham, William, or John should loose aire a Negro will'd by me, they have one of them left to my beloved wife. My wife maintain my daughter Ann Booker until she arrive of lawfull age or marriage. In case my wife dies, my son Richard Marot Booker, Parham Booker, William Marshall Booker, and John Booker each pay her 5 Pounds yearly toward her maintenance.
