Notes for Sir Robert Fleming:
Sir Robert Fleming of Biggar and Cumbernauld, only surviving son, entered a protest on January 7, 1440-41 against the illegal and unwarrantable sentence of execution and forfeiture passed on his father. King James II, on attaining minority, being convinced of the injustice of the sentence, issued precepts on January 1, 1441-42, for serving Sir Robert as heir of his father.
Robert was created a Peer of Parliament as Lord Fleming shortly after 1451. As Robert, Lord Fleming, Master of the Kings Household, he was an Auditor of accounts in Excheques July 1, 1454. He married, first, Janet Douglas, third daughter of James, seventh Earl of Douglas. Robert died in 1491. He was the son of Sir Malcolm Fleming and Elizabeth Stewart.
