As a young boy, John settled in what is now called Freeburg, in Snyder County, Pennsylvania.
Later he moved to Northumberland County, where he made his home at Chillisquaque. There he
bought a tract of land, but he followed his trade, that of Showmaker, Durning most of
his active life.
