About Our Family Research

my grandmother maybell(mcrae) mcinnis born 1927 was the daughter of ida (alford) mcrae and willie mcrae. they lived in clio, marlboro county south carolina.there were 4 other children katie ,virginia, willie douglas and willie. ida and willie should have been born around turn of the century 1905-1910. my great grandmother ida was the daughter of nancy(smith?) alford and henry alford. they also lived in clio, marlboro county south carolina. including ida they had 8 children clinton, vice, janie, maggie, ethel mae, arena and annie of the same region in south carolina. this as far bac as i go with the african american portion. i found a family of white alfords that may have a relation to my alfords. jacob alford of robeson n.c. will date 1794 owned land in s.c. which he willed to his wife. jacobs son sion also of robeson n.c had a slave boy named henry. he willed henry to his son warren. the slave often assumed the name of the owner. i'm i a descendent of this slaveboy henry. he also had a slavewomen named peg who he instructed his children to take care of her upon his death for the rest of her life.
