About Our Family Research

Lawrence and Alice (maiden name?)Dunn, both of Ireland. We know that one of their sons was Michael who immigrated to Canada in either 1832, or 1842. The first date was stated as true, but newer information disputes this original date.
From information our family starts with a Michael Dunn,(1821-1910?), from Meath County, Ireland,
who marries a Catherine (Goeing, spelling unsure 1828-97), from Wexford County, Ireland. The date of marriage is unknown. They lived in North Oxford, and know they died in Ingersoll, and were Catholics at Sacred Heart Church, and buried at that cemetary in Ingersoll. We have census records that place them as farming near the town of Ingersoll, and later retiring in the town.
Their children were as follows...
-Lawrence Dunn, (1848-1941), born in Ingersoll,
married Alice Olmstead,(1856-1942).
-Alice Dunn, (1850), marries David Henderdon (?)
-Mary Dunn, (1852), marries Mr. Burns
-Thomas Dunn, (1854-72)
-Bridget Dunn, (1856-?), marries John Carroll (?)
-Nicholas (Nick) P.Dunn, (1858-1948), marries Margaret Pickard (1867-1965)
-Catherine (Kate) Margaret Dunn, (1860-1949), marries Henry McDermott (18??-1932)
-John Dunn, (1862-??), marries Annie O'Grady (?)
-Ann Agnes Dunn, (1865-?), marries John Henry (?)
-Margaret Dunn, (1868)

My great grandparents are Lawrence and Alice (Olmstead) Dunn, and their children are as:
-Thomas Bernard Dunn, (1877-1950), marries Margaret Burke,(?), Regina,SK their home.
-Anna Isabel Dunn, (1879-1963), Sister Leo...Sisters of St Joseph
-Mary Alice Dunn, (1881-93)
-Michael Moses Dunn, (1883-1962), marries Emmeline Barrens,(1888-19?) lived in Prince Albert; Pontiex, SK. and all over, died in Ottawa, Ont.
-Lawrence Valentine Dunn, (1885-1919)
-Mary Evelyn Dunn, (1886-1986), marries James Edward Sinnett, (1881-1949) lived in Sinnett/Humboldt/Lanigan/Leroy.
-Norbert Joseph Dunn, (1888-1965), marries Anna Stella Koski, (1897-1959), lived in Sinnett/Saskatoon.{My Grandparents}
-Mary Catherine Dunn, (1890-?)
-Charles Joseph Dunn(E), (1891-1984), marries Mary Pauline Koberinski,(1886-1982), lived in Sinnett.
-James Aloysius Dunn, (1893-19?), marries Sophie Chemal(?)
-Mary Agnes Dunn, (1896-infant death)
-Boy Dunn, (1896) dies at childbirth
-Francis Joseph Dunn, (1897-?), marries Fran Ball,(?)

There is note of the adding of an (E) to the end of the name. Some families started to use this spelling, while others did not.
From a living uncle who has seen the gravestone of Larence and Alice buried in LaSalette, the spelling of the name is without the (E) on the end of Dunn.

Lawrence and Alice Dunn did move to Saskatchewan in the 1906-07 years. They had a farm operation around the town of Sinnett,(between what is Humboldt and Lanigan, SK). They came out with their family and many of them continued to live and work in the province. In 1912 he and his wife moved back East to LaSalette where they celebrated their 60 years of marriage in 1936.

As can be imagined many families are decendants of the original families and have been searched out to all of Canada and most of the USA so far. We are always looking for confirmations on the facts and any new leads of family members, and do have a list of Dunns and their email addresses on the internet willing to work on the families genealogy.
