Bequests: Land on the Wagon Road to be equally divided between sons William, the lower part, and James, the upper where he lives to daughter Mary Dunlap any balance and 50 acres up the mountain east of my house.

      From Joe Weiss: "John's will in 1822 lists wife, Mary, 5 sons and 7 daughters.
Louisa Dunlap the youngest is an ancestor of Joe's wife. The will stipulated that the 5 sons were to inherit the 300 acres of land, but not until Louisa became of age. Louisa was born in 1820. A neighbor named Crawford ended up with the land."

      Bath County Will Book 3 page 33, 34 names the children of Osborn Hamilton

      To youngest son, William, "...that half of the tract of land whereon I now live from the line Andrew Hamilton extending down the creek to the land of Col. Gatewood..."

      "About 1777, a Mr. and Mrs. Osborne Hamilton purchased a tract of land in Botetourt County, Virginia, now Bath County, Virginia, extending six miles along Back Creek, about Mountain Grove towards Sun Rise post office, from the Indians. Something about this Mary Davis that was married to Osborne Hamilton. In the Bath County Will and Settlements or something like that, on page 19 it says

Power of attorney given by John Davis of Woodford Co., KY to Osburn
Hamilton of Bath, to convey to Joseph Gregory land on Back Creek, Oct.
5, 1799. Acknowledged in Woodford Co., KY Court.

Then on page 114 in Will of Osbourn Hamilton at the end of it, it says

........also moiety of estate of John Davis, late of KY due at Mrs. Davis'
death, reserving a suitable maintenance for his wife.

My great grandfather was Sampson Moore died 1965 in Ritchie County WV. I trace my line 3 more
generations back to Presley Moore and Anne Hamilton. My Great Aunt says Presley was born in Westmoreland County Va in 1772,but it seems to be a brick wall as to who his parents were or where he came from. .
