Notes for David Frame:
In answer to my questions about some published research about David Frame, Cousin Ron Frame answered on March 13,1999 in an email:
1. Grace you asked the million dollar question....... What was Elizabeth,
wife of David Frame's maiden name... we can not tell you what it is... We
have extracted over 500 documents from Augusta County courthouse... there is
nothing in any document that says what her maiden name is..... No one can
provide any documentation to tell me it is Hanna..... the only connection
to Hanna is John Frame (father of David) purchasing land with Joseph Hanna,
David suing Joseph Hanna when he did not do as he should after the death of
John ( David's father in 1750)

2. Is the story of Thomas Jefferson as Attorney for David true?? Yes it is
you will find it in a book titled Thomas Jefferson An Intimate History by
Fawn Brodie published by Norton.... it is on page73. The book should be
in your library.

3. No, I have not placed my information and documentation in the Library.
It is our intention to put this information into book form with an index for
easier access.... If the library has a copy of "Times Twisted Trail by
Hilda Sirk Pettit" you will see some of the documentation and her view on
what we had to say. There is also an article in the Braxton Journal by Ed
Woodyard that is incorrect as far as documentation goes.. We wrote a
rebuttal but did not see it published by the Journal... Be careful of that
story...
Information for the children of David Frame from Ron Frame March 15, 1999 email.
Further information from cousin Ron Frame June 3, 1999 in answer to the question - "Did Thomas Jefferson win or lose the libel suit brought by David Frame against James Burnside?"
"Jefferson the Virginian by Dumas Malone Vol. 1 page 123
1767, Nov, 17
David Frame (Augusta) v. James Burnside (Augusta),
Bring action of slander for saying he saw the pl who is
a married man in bed with Elizabeth Burkin, etc. (Dismissed
at the Plaintiff's request.)"

From Virginia Carr to Brenda Hickman 3 Dec 2000:
This Indenture made the 20th. day of February 1822 between
John Frame &Martha his wife, William Given & Jane his
wife, John Duffield & Elizabeth his wife and James Frame all
of the County of Nicholas and State of Virginia; witness that
for in condsideration for the sume of blank to them in hand
paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and the said
John and Martha, William and Jane, John Duffield and
Elizabeth and being possession of a certain right in and to
Threehundred and seventeen acres on Elk River of land by
the death of David Frame their Father which land was divised
to Thomas and David Frame by David Frame dec. and the
will not being admitted to record (by neglect) as the law
directs the said William Given and Jane, John Frame and
Martha, John Duffield and Elizabeth, and James Frame for
themselves and their heirs do aquit, release (can't read
word), and confirm unto the said Thomas and David all their
rights title (cant read word) and claim in Laws on Equity in
and to the following described on three hundred and
seventeen acres of land which is bounded as follows
beginning at a poplar and two beeches near the bank of Elk
River nearly opposite the mouth of Racoon Creek (continues
with boundry discription)

(note by V.Carr)

This land transaction proves that David Frame's will was not
admitted to record, he had willed his sons David and Thomas
317 acres of land (where Braxton Co. Armory and Braxton
Co. Hospital is located today), in 1822 James Frame , John
Frame and Elizabeth Frame Duffield and Jane Frame Given
(with above transaction) turned their shares in the 317 acres
to their brothers David Jr. and Thomas. This plainly states
that David was their father.
