Notes for C
HRISTOPHEL REX:
Information for Rex Family descendants from Michael Gallagher in an e-mail 9 Mar 2002.
Michael states that George's father was known as Stophel or Stoffel, but his name was Christopher, Christophel, or Christoph.
Update from Michael 27 Apr 2002:
Please see "A History of Lehigh County" by Roberts and another author whose name escapes me, published 1914, under "Rex Family", bottom right of that family's first page. The DAR cites him
as Christopher (as listed on some muster rolls), but he is Christophel in the book. A history
of Heidelberg Church, records compiled by Rev. Raymond A. Hollenbach, 1977, lists George's father at his baptism (Lutheran records section) as Christoph. Stophel or Stoffel is listed in various records with supporting information that confirms his identity or makes it highly probably true, as his father is listed in Roberts' book as Jacob Rex, but the gravestone location and dates match. The veteran marker says
Bernard Jacob Rex, whereas the stone itself says Bernhard Jacob Rex (German version). More
information coming in about a month, when I finish the
semester.

Child of H
ANNAH HOLDER and CHRISTOPHEL REX is:
31. i.   GEORGE9 REX, d. Unknown.
