      Information from Fred in an e-mail 30 Dec 2000:
According to the death certificate of my Great - Great
Grandmother ( on my Mom's side ), Elizabeth Schoolcraft was her
mother, too. If this helps any, the death certificate of Lucy Ann Custer
has George Washington Custer, her father, as being born in Americus,
Indiana. Lucy Ann was born in Aug. 4 1845, by the way. I haven't
confirmed his death place yet, but I am thinking its Americus, as well.
Elizabeth is also from Americus, but I think this is in error. I also have a
letter from Edith May Ward ( Patterson ), who is Lucy Ann's daughter
and my Great Grandmother. It is written, " my mother had one sister and
one brother Amanda Custer and John Custer. Aunt Amanda married
Uncle Will Page and my mother married Lawrence Patterson.". So, using
the death certificates from the State of Kansas, and with what I have
been able to piece together, I got .......

      And from Pete 25 Dec 2002: It is a shame that St. Clere itself is no more, but the cemetary is still standing on the roadside near by. Lawrence M. and Lucy Ann Custer Patterson's gravestones are there still, near the road, in that cemetary.

From Pete 25 Dec 2002: I knew them as Great grandmother and Great grandfather Ward. I remember her always calling him Wash. Though, I was young when they died I remember them both as being in Rossville, just a few blocks from my Grandmother's house, which is just down the road on highway 24 from Silver Lake.
