      5. Sarah Alice Benjamin, born 08 Feb 1865 in New Jersey; died 10 Sep 1941 in Troy, New York. She was the daughter of 10. William H. Benjamin and 11. Harriet Cronk.

Stuart Bird; mother of Stuart Jr., of Dover, NJ; William H. of Latham,
and Ira Bird of Troy. Funeral private from Fonda's Funeral Home, 837
River St., Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in Albany Rural
Cemetery.
(Although the obituary states Alice Bird was the wife of Stuart Bird at the time of her death, they were divorced in 1896 and he had remarried.)

Funeral of Mrs. Bird
The funeral of Mrs. Alice Bird was held this afternoon from the
Fonda Funeral Home, 837 River Street, where Rev. Milton M. Lavery,
pastor of Grace Methodist Church, officiated. Bearers were Kenneth,
George, Louis, Fred, and William Bird, Jr. and Hayden Freeburg.
Interment was in Albany Rural Cemetery
      New York State Dept. of Health Death Record #51919 Registered number 915 District number 4102
On the death record her residence was given as 170 N. First Street Troy,
NY The primary cause of death was breast cancer. Her son, Ira Bird, of
the same address gave the death record information.
Also Albany Rural Cemetery records show that she was buried in Lot 45
Section 121
Also buried in the same lot are:
Ira Bird, Jr died 17 March 1911 age 3 years, 11 months 25 days
Ira Bird died 11 February 1949 age 63 years 0 months 2 days
Irene Edmonds died 4 September 1906 age 4 years 5 months
The lot was transferred to John Edwards in 1903 and listed as belonging
to John and Alice Edwards.

He was the son of 12. William A. Hulmes and 13. Frances Chamberlain. He married 7. Emma Elizabeth Lozier 20 May 1885 in Dover, Morris Co., NJ (Source: Marriage Certificate New Jersey H 50).

      7. Emma Elizabeth Lozier, born 22 May 1870 in Jefferson Township, Morris Co., NJ (Source: State of New Jersey Death Record); died 22 Dec 1913 in Roxbury Township, New Jersey (Source: State of New Jersey Death Record). She was the daughter of 14. Charles Lozier and 15. Mary Ann Sperry.

Netcong, NJ 1965 p. 133 Forcite and Atlas Powder Plant "Early in 1883 two Swedish engineers, Assian Sandholm and Axel Nibelius, purchased a site of some 410 acres of land about half a mile from what is now Landing post office, New Jersey." p. 135 "Karl J. Sundstrom, a Swedish consulting engineer, was engaged as superintendent. He arrived early in March (1884) on the steamship Servis, and started up the plant, making the first charge of nitroglycerine personally instructing Marcus Hulmes, who became the first nitroglycerine maker."
