She was a heavy-set lady who was loved by all. She was married to Moses Griffin who had two children. There names were Aaron and Moses, Jr. She lived in St. Julian's Creek. When she was about to die, she walked from her house to Manley Street where her brother, John lived. She ate a little meal. She laid down and died in the bed under the step where she died in Portsmouth, Virginia.

He was born in Garysburg, North Carolina. He came to Portsmouth, Virginia in his mother Betty's arms. He was the youngest of eight children. They lived in Portsmouth for his entire life.

He married Mary Elizabeth Davis, the daughter of William Peter Davis and Nannie Bet Gary, on September 15, 1916 in Portsmouth, Virginia. They had ten children. They lived on Elizabeth Street which is now Dale Homes. They also lived on Hobson Street in Truxtun. They lived later at 43 Manley Street.

He was an undefeated prizefighter in the city of Portsmouth in his early years. He worked at the Portsmouth Shipyard in Portsmouth after 43 years of service. He was respected and known by many in his neighborhood.

He and his wife was a member of the St. Mark Missionary Church on Columbia Street in Portsmouth. He became a deacon of this church. He was a Sunday School teacher at St. Mark. A great oracle, He was a wonderful working of faith. He was offered the pastorship but turned it down because he felt that his calling was a deacon. He remained in this church for 55 years.

He frequently visited his sister, Sarah, in Seaboard, North Carolina until she died in 1935. His sister Emma died at his home in October 1953 after walking from her home in St. Julian's Creek. His brother, Landis, lived with he and his wife until his death in December 1971.

John Alvester Davis died on February 21, 1974, at the age of 74, in Portsmouth, Virginia. He was buried in Lincoln Cemetery In Portsmouth. His wife, Mary lived at 43 Manley until she died on January 25, 1985, at the age of 82. She is also buried in Lincoln Cemetery in Portsmouth.

She was the oldest child of this union. Not much was found out about her but what information was given was that she had a child who died. She collapsed on Elizabeth Street, about four house from where they lived and died. According to Daniel Davis, James Davis, the son of her sister, Elizabeth was his favorite nephew. He was two years old when she died.

She was born in 1896, a twin, she was born to Portsmouth, Virginia. at the age of twelve, her father Jacob died in Portsmouth, Virginia. She was loan out for hire to a Jewish lady because her mother was returning to Emporia where the Dunn family was originally from.

She married Peter Vernon Pearson on March 13, 1915 at Third Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Virginia. She became a practical nurse. They lived at 2019 Pine Street (later Peach Street) all of their lives. This house was owned by Jacob Bracy according to the 1900 Census of Portsmouth, Virginia. Peter was a cook, in the Naval Reserves, and worked in the electrical shop in the Portsmouth Shipyard.

Elizabeth was a short, chubby, brown-skinned lady. Peter was a tall, chubby man, about 150 pounds. Peter died on May 14, 1972 which was Mother's Day that year. Elizabeth lived in the house until her death on April 26, 1989.
They are both buried in the Pearson plot near a barn in the middle of the cemetery on Lincoln Cemetery in Portsmouth, Virginia. Four of Three of the children lived on Peach Street today. Nathaniel across from the old house,
Bernice Pearson Vaughan near Garfield, and Dorothy Pearson Miller on the same corner near Garfield. Winston Pearson owns a real estate company near Portsmouth Blvd. and Peach Street and resides in Cavalier Manor in Portsmouth. Maude Pearson lives in California. Gloria and Robert Williamson lives in Delran, New Jersey. Elizabeth, Peter, Eliza Dunn Bracy, Melvin. Phillip, Norwood, Milton, Sr. and Milton, Jr., George Miller, Betty Bracy Davis are all buried in that cemetery plot.
