ESCALLE WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!?
Claude Piot (a French Genealogist) wrote "...Escaille, Escale, was the old name of the stone in french called "ardoise" which translate in english to "slate".
The ardoise was used for the roof of the house. The family name of Escallier, was the roofer utilizing the escalles. So, the name of Escalle was for anybody who works in a slate quarry, or sells slates, or had a house roofed with slates, or..."


FEUTRIER WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!?
Simply translated it is felt...This family name was originally the people who made, sold felt.
