He married (1) Elizabeth C. Kurth, daughter of Jacob Kurth and Mary Richards. He married (2) Regina Cieslak, daughter of Peter Cieslak and Sophia Konopaski.

Alfred J. Borowiak Sr., age 73 of Gaylord, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001 at Tendercare. Alfred was born in Gaylord on March 23, 1927, and lived his entire life here. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He is survived by his two children, Al Jr., of Gaylord, and Janet (Bryan) Stallard of Gaylord. Also surviving is one sister, Reggie Milmine of Gaylord, and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be buried next to his late wife, Elizabeth (Kurth) Borowiak, in the spring at Saint Thomas L. Cemetery in Elmira
