Along with daughter Annie Maude were sons William James b.April 1885, Clarence b.Nov 1887 and Samuel (it is believed that Samuel died of TB at the young age of 21years). Sources also indicate that there was a 5th child Joseph who died as a young child or infant. William Keeping was born to James Keeping & wife unknown on the Isle of Wight in the UK. My research indicates that he probably came to Canada sometime before 1881, as he is not located anywhere in the 1881 Census of the UK. He left the Isle of Wight it is said along with a brother (believed to be Hugh Keeping) and settled in Perth, Ontario & that brother Hugh decided to settle in Labrador, Canada. William wanting to go to sea, left Perth, Ontario and later settled in Newfoundland where it is said that he married his first wife Elizabeth. At the time of his marriage to Sarah Bartlett the marriage document (from the Newfoundland Archive)states that he was a widower. Following the death of 2nd wife Sarah Bartlett, William is said to have remarried a 3rd time to a woman named Jennie. Sarah Bartlett's parents were William Bartlett b.1835 (the son of William Bartlett a Wesleyan Church Minister & his wife's name is unknown) & Mary Taylor b.1840 (the duaghter of James Taylor a fisherman & wife unknown).
