Research indicates that the 4 brothers immigrated as servants, (sailing from Scotland via Dorset & then to Fortune Bay) to the "Newman Brothers" fishing agents. They were first stationed at Little Bay & later at Belleoram, Newfoundland. Marriage records for Benjamin & Frances indicate that they were of the Catholic faith & married in a Roman Catholic church in Burin, Newfoundland. The couple resided at Deer Island, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland at the time of the marriage.) Benjamin & wife Frances Bagg were the first settlers of Burnt Island. Benjamin Sr. is buried in Belleoram & the burial site is marked with a large tombstone.
