Hilary Park " Also is a message that was posted to Nora in Alberta on Genforum relating to the Keetch/Evans line: " My Great Grandfather was William Keetch. He was born in England and his family emmigrated to Canada sometime in the 1800's. He lived with his family in Newmarket, Ontario. There appeared to be two families. William and another sibling and then there was a gap and then other siblings but unknown who they were. Unfortunately, my aunt gave our Keetch family bible to another relative and I finally tracked her down and hope to see her the end of March. William Keetch married Rosanna ??. They had a son William A and then they moved to Thessalon, Ontario(northern Ontario by Sault Ste Marie, Ont) After moving to Thessalon, where they had a merchantile business, 3 more children were born - Annie, Gertrude Pearl (my grandmother) and Frederick. William married Jamima Jackson from Thessalon and they had 6 children. Annie never married and she died of cancer when she was 50 years old. Gertrude Pearl (went by Pearl) married Charles Frederick Rothera and they had two children Alice Irene Rothera (born 1910 died 2001) who never married, and William Albert Rothera (my father) who married Irene Maud Curran in Swansea, Wales during WWII. After coming to Canada as a war bride to join my father after the war, they had 3 children - Hilary Irene (Rothera)Park, Pamela Elizabeth, and Christine Rosanna. My aunt died and we are dealing with the estate and have come across numerous pictures that we haven't had a chance to go through yet. Then there was Frederick. He died at 18 months to 2 years. The story goes that the maid was filling a pail to scrub the floors and she had partially filled the pail with boiling water and had gone to get the cold water, and Freddy had trotted over to the pail and fallen in. He survived for approx 2 months at which time he managed to get the bandaging off and scratch himself and bled to death. There had been someone with him at all times, but this time my great grandmother had left the room for a minute and this is when this supposedly happened. He has been affectionately nicknamed "Freddie in the Attic" as his picture hangs up their with other family pictures. (the attic I am referring to is like a third story in my aunt's home in Thessalon which was built by my Great grandfather. The land was a Crown land grant. My great uncle William's children emmigrated to Albert in the mid 1940's & 50's. I will have to contact this cousin, Gloria Goltz, to get their proper names. I know there was Olive and Lillian. Maybe you are familliar with some of this information and can get back to me. I was reading some of the postings and saw that a Wayne M. contacted you and that he is looking for family in the Newmarket area.Possibly we are related also. Died of Apoxey, Dr. Howland, Oct. 1, 1901, buried in Williamsport. The area where Timothy & his friends & relatives setled was rough, rocky terrain, sandy soil on the higher ground. None of the families stayed very long, many of them going west. The land has returned to dense bush accessable only by logging roads used by logging companies, hunters & snowmobilers. It is difficult to find out anything about the area as it was an unorganized township until 1972 & so few records were kept. Two of Timothy & Amelia's sons went to the Dryden area pre 1920 & 1 to the Coniston, Sudbury area where it is believed they remained. November 30, 1933, Toronto, ON. Notes for DAVID EVANS: The Ontario Marriage Register (No. 012658) gives the marriage details: The groom is David Evans, age 22 years of East Gwillimbury [County of North York] born in Canada, a bachelor, laborer, son of William and Jane Evans. His religion is Presbyterian. The bride is Margaret Arthurs [sic] age 25 of Georgina, born in Canada, spinster, daughter of Henry Arthurs [sic] and Isabella Webster. Her religion is given as Roman Catholic. The witnesses are Stephen Arthurs and William H. Arthurs [brothers of the bride], both of Georgina. The wedding was performed in Georgina on Sept. 15, 1880 by L. Brair, "pt". There were banns. At the time of David's marriage to Margaret Jane Arthurs she had a small child, Florence from a previous relationship. David, Margaret & little Florence were found in the censuses as residing in the residence along with David's parents, William & Jane. David & his wife Margaret Jane were continually buying, restoring & selling homes & properties in Toronto, in total approximately 28 residences. Their last home in Toronto was at 24 Sussex, at the corner of Huron Street. According to cemetery records at the time of the burial of David, he died at Toronto General Hospital on Jan 11th, 1917, the medical attendant was Dr. G.C. Livingstone, he was buried on Jan 13th, 1917 by Frank Evans who was noted on the document as the nearest relation, the undertaker was H. Ellis & the officiating minister was Brethern. The cemetery records also state that he was born in Stayner, Ontario (Nottawasaga Township, Simcoe County) & that he died at 57 years of age of pernicious anemia. The nearest relative was his son Frank Evans as stated on the document, with Frank giving his present address in January of 1917 as 744 Gladstone Avenue, Toronto, Ontario. Also found on the cemetery records is info. stating that he was buried in the same plot as his son Herbert who predeceased him in 1914, with Herbert in the lower portion of Section 17, Grave 2927 at Prospect Cemetery, Toronto and David being buried in the upper portion of the same grave. This being contrary to the info. provided by Art & Jane Evans which states that David is buried in Section 17, Plot 255, #6, Prospect Cemetery, Toronto. S.B. Ardagh & was later baptized in the Roman Catholic faith at a later date. The parish records of St. Joseph's RC Church of Beaverton, Ontario (1858-1910) shows the baptism of Margaret aged 21 years, on Sept 29th, 1878, sponsors were JeanBaptiste Charpentier & his wife Angeline, by Father Brair. It is believed that Margaret, following the death of her father in 1863 was farmed out & lived with the Little family, John & Susan Little, on their farm in York West, Vaughan Co,& was employed in the household as a servant as indicated in the 1871 Canadian census. It was this same John Little who fathered a child (Florence born in 1876) with the young Margaret Arthurs who was age 18 years at the time. It seems that until Margaret married David Evans, the child bore the Little surname. Margaret was buried by Mr. J. Deacon her son in law. She was 75 years of age and died of chronic nephritis, according to the cemetery records. Also buried with Margaret at the Prospect Cemetery is daughter Maude & son Harry.
