John C Ritchey (son of Ferdinand Ritchey and Martha Corle) was born April 01, 1844, and died December 09, 1925. He married Mary Ann Bowser, daughter of Conrad Bowser and Sarah Imler.

John C. Ritchey enlisted in the army, Company E, 138th Pennsylvania volunteers, serving almost three years. During his enlisted he fought at the battles of Harpers Ferry, Bull Run and the Wilderness Campaigns. He was imprisoned for a period of then months and quartered in five different prisons. Most of his time was spent at Andersonville. During his imprisonment his feet became so badly frozer that he could not walk. A photograph and newspaper clippling help to document this record.
